This essay deeply talks about the tranquility of traveling alone. For the author, journey is a time to face the world with his own sensitivity. When you’re with someone, you have to care about what others think, which ruins the delicate impression towards the view in front of you.The moment of sharing emotion with others surely is beautiful, but in order not to lose things’ essence, being alone is more and more beautiful. In the city, thoughts are fragmentary, but walking alone in nature lets you get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, listen to your inner voice and make your thoughts ready. When facing a beautiful scenery, the explanation of emotion rather dilutes the emotion, so his words “people should accept it with silence, not words”was very impressive. Also sympathized with his words “the value of a journey isn’t in the destination, but rather in the coincidence and detour along the way”. Unlike books and people, scenery doesn’t impose other ideas on you. The existence of silence brings you space to illuminate your thoughts. For Hazlitt, reflecting on himself is the core of the value to travel alone. That's why walking meditation is important. Modern mindfulness and yoga are very common examples to this, and I have to do it every morning. It is quietly conveyed the time spending alone in the world without getting or learning is a luxury.
